ATC awards life term to two accused in acid attack case

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Friday awarded life sentences on three counts to two men convicted for attacking a teenage-girl with acid in Shahdara.The accused, Asif and Ghulam Hussain, were also ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 1.3 million each.Earlier, the prosecution submitted that the accused threw acid on the victim, Kaneez Fatima, 18, in Shahdara on April 24, 2014. However, the accused were nabbed by passersby while they were trying to flee on a motorcycle. The police had registered a case against the accused.ATC-III judge after hearing arguments and examining evidence awarded life sentences to the accused and imposed a fine of Rs 1.3 million each.Copyright APP (Associated Press of Pakistan), 2015
