LHC Multan bench upholds death penalty of three convicts

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Multan Bench Thursday upheld death penalty of three convicts in different cases.According to a press release issued here, the bench comprising Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin and Justice Chaudhry Mushtaq rejected an appeal of convict, Muhammad Shafi who murdered four police officials.Anti Terrorism Court (ATC), Multan, awarded death penalty on five counts and 10-years jail term to Muhammad Shafi besides Rs two million fine on September 22, 2012.The accused was arrested from Dunya-pur district Lodhran after he murdered hour on duty police officials by firing on August 12, 2007. The deceased police officials included Sub- Inspector Ameer Hamza, Constables Dost Muhammad, Zia Ullah and Muhammad Ibrahim.Meanwhile, the bench also rejected another appeal of convict Muhammad Sharif who murdered four brothers- Allah Ditta, Mazhar, Zafar and Azhar in a dispute on November 4, 2005.The bench upheld the orders of Multan Anti-Terrorism Court (II) for 5 times death sentence and 8 lakh fine in 7ATA and PPC 302. ATC Multan II had convicted the accused on May 30, 2007 and the accused challenged the decision in LHC.The bench upholding another verdict of ATC Multan II rejected the appeal of Tasaduq Hussain, murderer of a 4 years old boy…
