LAHORE: PML-MNA Hamza Shahbaz has hinted at the use of force if the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) forces the traders to shut down their businesses under its “so-called” Plan-C.

“If they try to take the law into their own hands, PTI workers will be dealt with strictly by law-enforcing agencies,” he told reporters at the inauguration of a chrysanthemum exhibition at Bagh-i-Jinnah on Thursday.

“No one will be allowed to shut down the country… Pakistan is not the personal property of any individual who can shut down it whenever one likes,” he said.

He said the government was ready for talks with the PTI and the latter should accept the offer instead of indulging in “container and street politics”.

“The government is ready for a dialogue with an open heart.”

He said the government showed patience at the Islamabad sit-ins though Imran Khan, what he said, was engaged in anti-Pakistan politics by levelling baseless allegations from his container and using indecent language against the rivals.

Referring to the start of the sit-in on Aug 14, the PML-N leader said the day when the country came into being was made a day of anarchy by Khan through his negative activities.

Similarly, he alleged, the country was bifurcated on Dec 16 and the PTI chairman chose the day to achieve his “selfish” political ends.

He predicted the failure of Mr Khan and cautioned the opposition leader that the masses and traders would hold his accountability.

He alleged that Khan was trying to take revenge from the masses for his failure to become prime minister.

He alleged the PTI leader did not want to see Pakistan make progress therefore he created such a mess which led the Chinese president to postpone his visit to Islamabad.

“Imran has only one agenda that is to become prime minister through backdoor.”

About PTI’s demand for audit of the May 2013 votes, he said the prime minister had written to the Supreme Court for the establishment of a judicial commission to probe into the rigging allegations on Aug 14.

“If Imran is to repeat the same demands, there was no need to enact drama for four months and hamper the process of progress,” he said.

He advised Mr Khan to study law and the Constitution and join the 33-member parliamentary electoral reforms committee to make practical efforts for the improvement of the electoral system.

Earlier, the slogan of “go-Nawaz-go” chanted by a PTI supporter created a scene at the ceremony.

PML-N activists thrashed the youth in the presence of Hamza before the police removed him from the venue.
