Protests,long marches to hinder country’s economy: LCCI president

LAHORE: The protests and politics of agitation under the garb of 'independence or revolution' marches will produce nothing, except hampering Pakistan's democratic setup and hindering economic recovery.Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Engineer Sohail Lashari talking to APP here Wednesday, he said that Pakistan could not afford such negative activities especially when Pak Armed Forces were busy in operation against terrorists and anti-Pakistan elements in North Waziristan Agency.He said the sit-in and protest marches by some political and religio-political parties on auspicious occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day would harm peace in the country, which would ultimately hinder economic and trade activity, besides hitting the exports.”This topsy-turvy situation will not only send a wrong signal to the world but also have adverse impact on Pakistan's overall political, economic and social fabric”, he asserted.Responding to a query he suggested these opposition parties to come out of politics of 70s, adding Pakistan came into being after supreme sacrifices of our forefathers but unfortunately some parties were flexing muscles for agitation and protests instead of celebrating the important occasion of August 14 with national zeal.To another query, Sohail Lashari said,”The business and industrialists community is concerned over the reluctance shown by representatives…
