Sincere efforts being made to resolve energy crisis: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said here Thursday the government was making serious efforts for resolving energy crisis as it was essential for controlling poverty and creation of job opportunities. He was chairing a meeting to review energy projects and setting up of LNG Power Park here Thursday, while, Federal Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Petroleum Secretary, SNGPL Managing Director, Punjab P D Chairman, Additional Chief Secretary Energy, Punjab Finance Secretary and officers concerned were also present. The Chief Minister said that solution to overcome electricity shortage at the earliest was of vital importance for development of industrial, trade, economic and agriculture sectors. He said the government led by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was taking allout measures for resolving energy problem and special incentives were being given to foreign investors for investment in energy sector. Punjab government, he said, was also working on power generation projects based on solar power, coal and the LNG (Liquified Natural Gas).
