LAHORE: A two-member bench of the Supreme Court Thursday dismissed petitions filed by Malik Riaz (MNA), Malik Saiful Malook Khokhar and Mian Mohsin Latif (MNAs) challenging interim orders of election tribunal. The bench dismissed the petitions observing that an apex court bench had already declared that interim orders of election tribunal could not be challenged. The bench comprising Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry was hearing the petitions at Supreme Court Lahore Registry. The petitioners' through their petitions submitted that the election tribunal comprising Justice (R) Kazim Ali Malik had issued various interim orders on election petitions challenging their election. They submitted that the tribunal passed the interim orders without deciding their objection applications. They contended that the tribunal orders were illegal as it was bound to decide their objection applications first. They pleaded the court to set aside interim orders of the tribunal and directions be issued to decide their objection applications first. They also requested the bench to transfer the proceedings before another tribunal.Copyright APP (Associated Press of Pakistan), 2014
